Our preliminary task was based around the idea to create a Western themed
short video. When creating our storyboard we visualised and planned out how and
when we are going to use the camera angles that we were told to include.
We want them to be used in the most beneficial, efficient and accurate way
possible so we planned which scene will be best and get the best effect by
using a certain camera angle.
The shot reverse shot will display the power the male antagonist has over
the female protagonist by starting and ending the shot reverse shot with the
antagonist. We are using this to show the power of the characters in our
opening scene. Shot reverse shots are used to also connect conversation between
characters to add continuity between dialogues within the media text. We want
to demonstrate that we completely understand the shot reverse shot and that we
know its importance and uses within a media text, hence why we are using it in
a vital scene within our opening.
The match on action will be of the antagonist bursting through the door of
the "saloon" and threatening the bar staff and characters who are in
the bar. The importance of the match on action shows continuity and a smooth
display of environment change. The match on action will show that we have
skills in editing and not just camera work and filming, showing our range of
talents when coming to creating our media text.
There is going to be dialogue within the video between multiple
characters. The story line of the video will involve the antagonist appearing
as he is going to shoot someone within the bar but the situation is quickly
resolved and the antagonist is defeated.
